Toon is feeling a bit sick (nothing too serious) at the moment so Jeroen Tilkin (who also filled in during the summer sometimes) is replacing him for the next couple of concerts.

As you can notice, we have a new bandpicture, taken by Guy Kokken in the backstage of the AB at Mauro's wedding with the devil last week-end. From left to right : Tim Vandenbergh, Toon Offeciers, Pascal Deweze, Sjoerd Bruil and Stoffel Verlackt. It's also downloadable in 300dpi format at this place.

And yes, the good people at Popculturepress.com have finally reviewed our 2002 album "Sukilove" : "With a voice that drips with biting irony, despair, and longing, Belgium's Pascal Deweze infuses Sukilove with a sound reminiscent of the modern LA singer-songwriter (think: Michael Penn, Jon Brion). The songs here are crafted with lush yet unpretentious arrangements (featuring everything from horns and strings to computerized bird sounds) and the vibe is smart, but not unbearably so. While most of the tracks require repeated listenings to fully absorb, the immediate heart of the album comes about halfway through with the sublime "Talking in the Dark," a pretty, aching lament about how "in the summer, all the girls sing sha la la la." The song, bursting with gorgeous strings and Deweze's sweet, rising vocals, is criminally catchy. Its beauty is wisely contrasted with "Did You Ever Feel So Lonely," a tense and somber six-minute-plus opus of noise and alluring misery. On "Shame You Never Worry" and "Computing Beauty," Bettie Serveert's Os Carol Van Dyk makes an appearance; the matchless dusky quality of her voice gives the songs an added intensity. Although the record clocks in at 10 minutes shy of an hour, its richly layered structure gives these easy-on-the-ear pop songs a grand, epic feel. (Rachel Leibrock) " Thanks! And we have a new guitarplayer finally ! After Helder left, Sjoerd Bruil has come into our lives and eardrums last week. He's currently practicing some basic rockmoves - his first show with the Sukilovers will be in Aalst on the 30th of october.

"Start a life" is gestegen in HUMO's Top 20 naar nummer 16. Dinsdagavond valt op JIM dus waarschijnlijk de nieuwe videoclip te bekijken (22u). Dank voor het stemmen alvast, keep up the good work !
"Start a life" is deze week ook TTT-hit in HUMO.
De clip is trouwens gemaakt door Anke Blondé en Ruben Impens met oneindig veel hulp van Lotte, Rik, Elke en nog een heleboel andere zwaar onderbetaalde vrijwilligers die slechts in het volgende leven de beloning krijgen die ze hiervoor verdienen.

Wederom het einde van een schoon tijdperk : Helder houdt z'n Sukilove dagen voor bekeken. Duizenden andere projecten en een tweede sterke plaat met "Helder" lonken aan de horizon. Fare thee well, we'll meet again - bvb. op Summerset Festival als Helder z'n laatste contractuele verplichtingen met de Sukis afwerkt, z'n schup afkuist en jodelend aan de horizon verdwijnt...

The "You kill me" USA release can now be pre-ordered thru the Parasol website. At the moment we're planning an East-Coast Tour in sep/oct, we'll post the dates as soon as they get confirmed. Must go now and blow somebody's nose.

Pascal heeft voor de juli editie van DENG magazine een fictieve compilatie CD samengesteld vol met luistertips voor een onrustige avond.
Er zijn twee nieuwe concerten bevestigd : Tettenrock (!) op 6 aug en een concert in JH Sojo (18 nov) in Leuven.
Alle roddels over verse bassist Tim kunnen nu aan de waarheid getoetst worden : Mugshot ! Er staat ook een nieuwe recensie van LIVE XS + een interview met Stage on-line.

Well, a new website for Sukilove, who'd have thunk ? Kevin vd Schoor coded this little motherf#@ker, I drew my little children's heart out. Don't we make a lovely pair ? Not everything is on-line yet, not everything's working already, several little disasters will strike these next couple of days - but hang in there, just remember Gloria Gaynor !
